On Friday, January 10th, the RBE Library had a very special virtual visitor! Corey Rosen Schwartz, the author of the FABULOUS Three Ninja Pigs, came to Borchardt via Skype!!!
I have been hoping to do a Skype with her for months!!! Our 2nd graders have just LOVED this book, and I desperately wanted to meet her myself virtually, and have them meet her.
Let me just tell you, she was phenomenal!!! On the Skype, she told the students about how she knows sign language and used to teach at a school for the deaf. She also told our students about what inspires her as a writer and a little about her writing process.
She also told the kids about how books get published and gave them some details about this very interesting process for picture books! During the Skype, she also read The Three Ninja Pigs to the kids and had 4 kids come up and be the Big Bad Wolf and the Three Little Pigs. The kids loved hearing her read the story!
Another cool thing she did was give the kids a sneak peek at her new book, Goldi Rocks and the Three Bears, which she also send me an advanced copy of (WOHOO!). The kids are so pumped to read her upcoming books!
Each class also prepared questions for Corey, which she answered and was able to tell them all kinds of things about being an author! One of my favorite questions was when the kids asked her what it was like to be famous! LOVE IT!
Corey is one of the coolest, nicest authors, and she even sent all our 2nd graders book marks for her new book! Thank you Corey for taking the time to meet with and talk to our young readers! You inspired us all in one way or another!
