5th Grade World Book & EBSCO Scavenger Hunt

This week in the RBE Library, 5the Grade  RBE students will be exploring and learning about how to use the World Book Online & EBSCO.

5th grade is not in the midst of research, so we are going to go on an information Scevenger Hunt!

In this scavenger hunt, students will learn about environmental pollution. Students can and should use the bookmarks we sne home in Thursday folders last week to access the World Book Online from home using our Borchardt username and password. Anytime students are at school, they can use the search boxes on the library website from any computer on campus to access the World Book Online.

5th grade, use the scavenger hunt below to learn how to use the World Book Online & EBSCO. Answer the six questions under the Find It! section as a comment below!

Learn More!

♦ Click here to see how acid rain has changed a sculpture at Herten Castle in Germany.

♦ Click here to watch this video to learn how paper is recycled!

♦ Oil spills are one type of water pollution. Click here to learn more about them.

Find It in the World Book!

Enter in the search term “environmental pollution” in the green World Book Search Box.

1. What is another name for garbage pollution?
2. Why should we not throw batteries into our regular garbage?
3. What is acid rain?

Find It in EBSCO

Enter in the search term “environmental pollution” in the EBSCO KidSearch search Box. Use the article “What’s in the Trash?” to answer the questions below.

4. What percent of things that people throw away can be recycled?

5. Fill in the blanks: Manufacturing ______ cans from  ______ ones uses  ______  percent less energy and causes  ______  percent less pollution than making new cans from other raw materials.
